In Belgium, weather agency IRM said between 5 and 9 millimetres (0.2 to 0.35 inches) of rain was forecast on Monday in the High Fens, a nature reserve in the east of the country which has been burning since Friday, Reuters reported.
The local temperature was set to fall to about 20 degrees Celsius, having breached 30C last week in a heatwave that saw parts of Belgium hit temperatures of 37 C.
