Colombian rebel group say kidnapped French Foreign Legion soldier is still alive

Rebels from the Central General Staff, the main splinter group of Colombia’s defunct FARC guerrillas, on Sunday said they were responsible for kidnapping a Colombian national serving in the elite French Foreign Legion. The guerrillas said that Jose Olger Melo Charry, who was reportedly on leave in his home country, was alive and in “perfect health”.
