Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah supports India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty. He stated the treaty was never in the region’s best interest and opposed it from its inception. Abdullah blamed the treaty for the power crisis experienced within Jammu and Kashmir. India suspended the water sharing pact after a significant terror attack last year. The central government will respond to war threats originating from Pakistan.
