Kay Granger, a former Republican representative, who was the first woman to win a US House seat from Texas, has died at age 83.
Granger served in the house from 1997-2025, and was the first female chair of the House appropriations committee. Prior to her role in federal office, she was the first woman elected mayor of Fort Worth, Texas.
